Cupping Therapy

Ancient Chinese Healing for Modern Bodies

Ancient Chinese healing for modern bodies. Releases muscle tension and improves circulation. Reduces inflammation and pain. This therapeutic technique uses suction cups to lift and separate muscle tissue, promoting healing and relaxation.

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping Therapy is an ancient healing system that has been practiced in Thailand for over 2,500 years. Unlike Western massage styles that use oil and focus on muscle manipulation, Thai massage is performed fully clothed and combines:

  • Acupressure: Pressure applied to energy points throughout the body
  • Assisted Yoga Stretches: Gentle, guided stretches that improve flexibility
  • Energy Line Work: Work along the body's energy pathways (sen lines)
  • Deep Compression: Rhythmic pressure to release tension

Purpose

To release muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote healing through the application of suction cups. This technique helps break up adhesions, increase blood flow to affected areas, and stimulate the body's natural healing processes., restore your body's natural flow, and create harmony between physical and energetic systems. Unlike Western massage styles, authentic Thai massage combines acupressure, assisted yoga stretches, and energy line workβ€”often called "lazy person's yoga."

What to Expect

Your therapist will place special cups on your skin, creating suction either through heat (fire cupping) or a pump mechanism. The cups remain in place for several minutes, creating a gentle pulling sensation. Some therapists may also use moving cupping, where the cups are glided across the skin with oil. You may notice temporary circular marks on your skin, which are normal and typically fade within a few days. The treatment feels like a deep reverse massage and is generally very relaxing.
